| We
are very proud of our colonial heritage.
We were founded less than 60 years after
the shots heard "round the
world" in the original battle of
Lexington. Lexington has an
inventory of perhaps 250 historical houses and
buildings, many of them dating back to
the 1850's. Some are being
meticulously restored by their current
owners. Others have bravely
withstood constant architectural
degradation with only their history left
unchanged.
We have
selected a number of them
for you to enjoy. We invite you
to walk our quiet streets, see our
lovely gardens, and share our views from
the bluff. Lexington is original,
obviously not a restoration village, but
we will put on our best face for you!
We know this
will be an interesting tour. Wear
comfortable shoes...have a pleasant day!

Special Thanks
to: Philomena Falls, Pat Rzepka
and James Norman for their 1980's assistance
in gathering information for this tour.
It is sincerely appreciated.
-- The Greater
Lexington Croswell Chamber of Commerce
Most
of the
information was taken from the publication,
"A Lexington Sampler of Early
American Homes". Some of the
addresses have changed (buildings were
moved), businesses have changed hands,
or the buildings have been
removed. This publication and
current photos of the buildings were
updated by Carol Watson in June
2009. The original publication was made possible by:
The
Moore Public Library Board of Trustees
in the 1980's.
