3 NORTH VINES
Owners: KRISTI NICHOLS-SHOPBELL
The site at 5940 Peck Road was selected for its beauty, geological significance, and its proximity to Lake Huron. The vineyard and winery are located on thirty five acres of rolling hills, dotted with three ponds and glimpses of Lake Huron. Geologically, the site is protected by the Port Huron Moraine that helps extend the lake effect weather conditions to Michigan's east coast.
The owners were inspired by other Michigan vineyards and wineries, and saw a demand in the market for more vineyards on Michigan's East Coast.
BLUE WATER WINERY & VINEYARD
Winemaker: CONSTANCE CURRIE
About a decade ago, after studying with industry experts at University of California (UC Davis) to gain the core knowledge of commercial wine making, we left the busy life of software executives in downtown Chicago and literally - "bought the farm". We planted a 10 acre vineyard near the shores of Lake Huron because it was near to the Metro area customers and for the "lake effect". The harvests have been many and fruitful, resulting in wines winning Gold Medals in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. Please note that although the vineyard is not open to the public, you can experience Blue Water Wines at our seasonal Lexington Tasting Room or at Michigan By The Bottle Winebar Aurburn Hills location.
